Welcome to the exciting world of archery!

Whether you're looking to take up archery as a serious hobby, try it out for fun, or organise an archery event, we've got you covered with all the information you need.

Starting with a Beginners Course:

We highly recommend beginning your archery journey with a beginners course at our club. Our Archery GB course consists of four two-hour sessions and is a standardised program nationwide. This comprehensive course will provide you with a solid foundation in correct shooting techniques and safety practices.

During the course, you'll be introduced to two shooting styles, recurve and barebow, along with learning how to use sights effectively. You'll gain valuable insights on shooting accurately and consistently, breathing techniques, and safe practices. Our experienced coaches will also provide you with valuable advice on equipment selection. Don't worry about bringing your own gear; we provide all the necessary equipment, and you'll have the opportunity to try out different options before making a purchase from an archery supplier.

Upon completing the course, you'll receive a certificate that enables you to join and shoot at any club across the country, ideally including ours! Joining a club after the course allows you to continue honing your archery skills and engaging with like-minded enthusiasts.

While some may consider purchasing their own equipment and practicing in their garden, we advise against it without proper guidance. Without the right technique, archery can become frustrating and unfulfilling. Correct equipment selection is also vital, as arrows must be matched to your bow and personal specifications in terms of length, stiffness, and type.

Key Points to Remember:

  • The beginners course spans four sessions, scheduled to coincide with our club shoots on either Saturdays or Sundays.

  • Avoid buying a bow before taking the course, as the specifics of bow size, weight, and other factors can be complex. Consult with us first to save yourself both money and disappointment.

  • Secure your spot in the course by making advance payment. The course fee is £70 for adults and £45 for juniors, covering all the necessary equipment and training materials.

  • To get started or inquire about the course, please use the contact form provided.

We're thrilled to have you join our archery community and look forward to helping you discover the joy of this timeless sport. Whether you're an aspiring archer or looking to organise a memorable archery event, our experienced team is here to support you every step of the way.

Let's embark on this archery adventure together!
